Our parents are in their eighties and wanted to stay in their home.
Like many seniors their health started to decline and they had some memory issues. This was a worry for us and so we started to explore options.
I found Canadian Assistance one night when I was searching the internet for possible options. I found the agency to be very helpful as they took the time to get to know about our family, our situation and what our needs were.
Of course we worried whether this would work and we didn’t know anyone who had a live-in caregiver in our area. The agency reassured us that if for whatever reason this did not work out, his agency would make the necessary adjustments. With the agency’s help we were able to interview some candidates and make a decision. The agency took care of all the necessary paperwork etc.
Three months later our caregiver arrived and we absolutely love her. She is a very welcome addition to our family and has provided us with much peace of mind. She is learning to cook the foods our parents like(Italian), has helped them with their garden and takes them out on outings. Our parents love her.
This is the best thing we did and we wish we had done it 5 years ago.
